Insurance Coverage

Many of the items available at Freeport Home Medical Equipment, Inc. are covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurances when the patient meets medical criteria and a physician has written a prescription.

We take assignment: we handle the paperwork for reimbursement, as opposed to you paying for the insured portion up front. When an individual is interested in purchasing an item that is usually covered by insurance, staff will verify the patient’s insurance policy to determine specific coverage. This happens right away while the individual is in the store. So there is no doubt what the personal obligation and/or co-pay is for a particular item. Any co-pay is due at the time of service. We do our best to inform you about what we are able to find out; however, it is the patient’s responsibility to know and understand policy provisions. Please note, in order to bill insurance, we must first have a prescription and insurance information.

Service and Delivery

With the exception of lift chairs, any product that is purchased from Freeport Home Medical Equipment and has been billed to insurance is delivered free to locations within our service area. We serve clients in the following Illinois counties: Stephenson, Winnebago, Jo Daviess, Whiteside, Ogle, Carroll, Boone, and Lee, also Wisconsin's Green county. Other counties are considered on a case-to-case basis.

Delivery and pick ip is also available for cash sale items and for equipment being repaired. Depending on the circumstances, some charges may apply.

The regular hours of Freeport Home Medical Equipment's full-service repair team are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. We also have on-call staff members available 24/7 to immediately assist with a resolution depending on the individual situation.

Warranties and Repairs

We honor all manufacturers’ warranties, even if the product wasn’t purchased at Freeport Home Medical Equipment, Inc. Most manufacturers’ warranties do not include labor so there would likely be a labor charge that is billed by the hour.

We offer repair service on all durable medical equipment, regardless of whether it was purchased at Freeport Home Medical Equipment or bought elsewhere.
